Oxnard is an interesting place and one difficult to describe because it has so many facets. Although much of the town is inland, it does have a long coastline with beaches like Channel Islands Beach, and others closer to Ventura. Oxnard is home to one of California's most important commercial harbors as well as 2 navy bases. It has some of the best surfing beaches in California. Oxnard College has about 3700 students here. There are a number of cultural institutions including the Carnegie Art Museum.

Some of the most fertile soil in the world. The California Strawberry Festival. Oxnard College. Access to the Channel Islands. Fabulous beaches with enormous sand dunes. Oxnard Historic District, Heritage Square (renovated Victorians and Craftsmen houses).

Climate and Physical Environment
The Oxnard Plain, which includes Oxnard, Ventura, and Camarillo has about the most perfect climate in the world. Camarillo is a bit warmer, as it is further away from the coast, but Oxnard and Ventura is extremely mild all year long. Spring and early summer fog is common along the coast, but normally extends inland for a mile or so. Camarillo rarely has fog. In any case, the fog usually burns off by mid-day. Temperatures range within a very narrow range year round, between about 65 and 75 F. Rainfall, if any, occur usually in the late winter and early spring.
