Living a Boating Lifestyle in Paris, Tennessee

Boaters come to Paris, Tennessee because they like living near one of the largest man-made lakes in the world. Paris is a small town of about 10,000 in northwest Tennessee, 15 miles from the vast and popular Land Between the Lakes recreation area, where boating and fishing are extremely popular. Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley offer plentiful opportunities for boating, fishing, and camping in the area. Paris is located in Henry County in northwestern Tennessee.

Where to Retire in Paris and Home Prices

Living on the man-made Kentucky Lake is popular with many baby boomers.  There are least a few condominium developments that offer plentiful amenities and 2 BR apartments. Other retirees choose to live in Paris, either in newer subdivisions or in existing single family homes. The median home value was  $135,166 in late 2021, according to Zillow.com, much lower than the U.S. average. Prices are surprisingly affordable for homes or lots with water views.

Climate and Physical Environment

Paris is near two vast lakes, Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley. Surrounding area is combination of thickly wooded, open, swamps, hills, and flatlands. Great for sportsmen of all kinds. Restaurants & Cultural Scene

Nashville is 107 miles away. Memphis is about 130 miles away. W.G. Rhea Library has great selection. The annual World's Biggest Fish Fry Festival includes a parade and arts show among other attractions.  Krider Performing Arts Center, Lee Academy for the Arts, world-class musicians and artists live locally,  annual Arts Round The Square, national juried art show in June.

Medical Facilities

Paris has a number of private clinics & a county owned hospital, Henry County Medical Center, a 140 bed hospital. The HCMC complex also includes a nursing home, hospice, and emergency medical center. Murray-Callaway County Hospital is 22 miles away in Murray.

Transportation

Nashville International Airport is about two hours, Memphis International Airport is about two and a half hours, and Barkley Regional Airport is 60 miles away in Paducah, KY;
