What Is Special about Tulsa
Tulsa is probably the most dynamic city in Oklahoma with many attractions and well-funded institutions such as the Philbrook Museum. Its Southern Hills Country Club is the frequent host of major PGA golf tournaments. There are 135 parks, a Zoo, and film festivals. Since 1969 1% of the city's annual budget is dedicated to the public display of art.
What Is Not Special about Tulsa
The crime rate is almost double the national average, indicating there are some urban neighborhoods with a crime problem.
Climate and Physical Environment
Tulsa is in the northeast corner of Oklahoma. The average January temperature is in the high 30s and the average July temp is in the low 80s.
Restaurants & Cultural Scene
One of the most impressive features about Tulsa is that 1% of the city budget is dedicated to public displays of art. Tulsa has a long list of cultural institutions, including its universities and colleges. There are a number of museums including the Philbrook Museum, which is considered one of the top 50 fine art museums in the United States(see this article in the WSJ). Art and artifact collections of the American West are featured at the Gilcrease Museum. There are ballet, opera, and symphonies companies, in addition to several theatres. The centerpiece of the downtown Brady Arts Distric is the Brady Theater.
