Kingston, (population 5,000) is actually an unincorporated village in the town of South Kingston. The Kingston Village Historic District has 38 buildings listed due to its stock of handsome Federal, Greek Revival, and Late Victorian architecture. The University has 11,000 students, which bring considerable life and diversity to the town. Kingston is the county seat of Washington County

Housing choices available to active adults include the restored historic homes in the central village. There are other nice homes close to town. There is at least one new luxury condominium development in the area. There are also assisted living facilities nearby. The Kingston downtown area is small but interesting.
