What Is Special about Islandia

Islandia is on Long Island, which is a very interesting place to live, particularly for boaters or beach goers. One has access to either the Atlantic Ocean or Long Island Sound within a short drive. Also not too far away is the east end of Long Island, which is becoming a significant tourist draw with many wineries and B & B's.

What Is Not Special about Islandia

Long Island tends to be crowded and expensive. It is very hard to get on and off of - either drive to New York to rejoin the mainland, or take a ferry to Connecticut.

Climate and Physical Environment

Located approximately in the center of Long Island in Suffolk County. Long Island is a long peninsula that stretches from New York City almost all the way to Block Island, Rhode Island. It is the remnant of a glacier from the last Ice Age. Islandia is part of the town of Islip

Restaurants & Cultural Scene

The town is small but Islandia is home to parks and over 275 acres of Suffolk County Greenbelt and walking trails. there are businesses and restaurants here and the town hosts annual events. NYC is just 50 miles away.

Islandia's crime rate is in line with the national average.

Medical Facilities

St. Catherine of Siena Hospital is 5 miles away in Smithtown. Other hospitals are with 15 miles in Baytown, etc.

Transportation

There is no public transportation, Long Island MacArthur Airport has domestic flights from Islip, New York and is 5 miles from Islandia,and LaGuardia Airport and JFK are about 40 miles away.
