Climate and Physical Environment

This community, located at an altitude of about 2500' sometimes gets a foot of snow that typically melts in a few days. Weather here in Alta Sierra is not extreme on either the cold side or the hot side.

The Foothills are part of the rich Vineyard culture that brings wine connoisseurs from around the country to sample local varietals. The Northern Sierra wine country stretches from Auburn through Nevada City to Double Oak Vinyards across the South Yuba River. Fruit orchards that complement our wine region include citrus growers, cherry farms, and peach growers. Growers, musicians, and ranchers gather at the Placer & Nevada County Fairs. The fairgrounds are most lovely and scenic of any in the nation. Patriotism abounds in the foothills with 4th of July parades and fireworks displays.

Grass Valley is close to 4 major regional medical centers, Kaiser Roseville, Mercy San Juan, & San Juan Medical Center, and UC Davis Medical Center. All top rated and highly acclaimed cardiac & respiratory care facilities. Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital and further north Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital are the local urgent care centers. Private practice physicians handle short term out patient care.

Transportation

The Local City Shuttle Bus is a great way to get around in both Auburn & Grass Valley, with regular scheduled routes to the world class shopping at Roseville Galleria. The State Capital Mall has light rail service that will take you from down town Sacramento to the Folsom Outlet Stores for a full day of shopping! Our regional medical centers also offer shuttle service.
