Living a Small town Lifestyle in Dunnellon, Florida

 Dunnellon is located in north central Florida in Marion county, which is thoroughbred horse raising country. Horse owners with famous name owners with names like Disney and Steinbrenner. Dunnellon and surrounding area (the "Treasure of the Nature Coast") welcomes visitors with small-town charm. Dunnellon is 20 miles from Ocala (to the northeast).  Crystal River is about the same distance in the opposite direction, and is just a few miles from the Gulf of Mexico.

Thanks to foreclosures and short sales the median price sunk into the $80's in mid 2010, but in mid-2012 rose to about $100,000, and was $215,896 by late 2021, according to Zillow.

Dunnellon offers a low cost of living and small town lifestyle.  Area scenery is quite beautiful; Rainbow Springs State Park is a popular attraction. The town has a brand new library and several active adult communities. Eco tourism is big here with the Rainbow River and the Withlacoochee River

It is a small town in the interior of Florida, far from any large city.

Climate and Physical Environment

Dunnellon is near Florida's west coast just before it starts to go east west instead of north south.  Spring Hill and Tampa are to the south, Ocala is to the east. January temperatures tend to be in the 50's and 60's.

Boomtown Days is an annual festival held in April that is the highlight of the season. There is a new county library in Dunnellon.
