There is at least 1 large active adult community located a few miles from the town center (see link at right). Real estate prices are high in Holly Springs, although typical for the Raleigh-Durham area. The median home value was $340,731, in early 2020, according to Zillow.  Median property taxes were just under $2000.

What Is Special about Holly Springs

Holly Springs is in a very fast growing and prosperous part of the country. Town leaders are obviously trying very hard to make Holly Springs an attractive community for people of all ages, including retirees.  The weather is relatively mild.  Being close to the Research Triangle cities and the Raleigh-Durham Airport are big plusses.

What Is Not Special about Holly Springs

Property values are quite high compared to Florida and many other areas.  NC has a relatively high tax structure.  Traffic can be brutal on Route 55 as it merges onto Route 1 - the suburbs keep getting built out and there are too many cars on the road.

Climate and Physical Environment

Holly Springs is in central NC, south of Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill. The average temperature is 40 in January and in the high 70's in July.

Restaurants & Cultural Scene

The Holly Springs Cultural Center in the central downtown district has frequent concerts, art shows, and other cultural events. The entire Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area is brimming with cultural events and interesting restaurants.

Crime

The crime rate is less than half the national average.

Medical Facilities

There are several hospitals in nearby Cary and Raleigh.

Transportation

There is some public transportation in the area, though not necessarily in Holly Springs. The Raleigh-Durham Airport is a big one with many flights and carriers.
