This town is located a few miles west of Medford in the Rogue Valley. Jacksonville was one of the first gold mining towns in the state of Oregon. Although the gold has long played out, its legacy is a town of great beauty and history. The Jacksonville Historic District is now a U.S. National Historic Landmark.

But if you really want an idea, use Google or other search engine to find listings on real estate co sites, those will give you an idea. Condos and lovely townhomes are available in Jacksonville. Average taxes are about $3000. Jacksonville has an assisted living/independent facility and nearby Medford has several active adult communities (see Oregon Directory of Active Adult Communities). The area is so compact that you almost don't need a car.

Unique history as an old gold mining town. Over 100 buildings within its Historic District (a U.S. Landmark). Great restaurants and wineries. Wonderful location in the orchard and vineyard country of the Rogue River Valley. Natural amphitheater is the site of festivals and concerts. There are some world class restaurants in Jacksonville, including the famous Jacksonville Inn and Gogi's.
What Is Not Special about Jacksonville OR
It's a very little town of just over 2,600 people, so it is not for people looking for daily hustle and bustle.
Climate and Physical Environment
Jacksonville is a few miles west of Medford in very southern Oregon. The Cascades are too the south and the Siskiyou is to the east. The average Jan temp is in the high 30s and the average July temp is 70.
Restaurants & Cultural Scene
The Britt Festival is a seasonal music festival that takes place at an open-air amphitheater. The site was selected in 1963 because of the acoustic qualities of the surrounding hills. The popular concert series draws national pop, country, alternative and contemporary music acts. Jacksonville Historic Museum is worth a visit. The Beekman Native Plant Arboretum.

Crime rate is extremely low in Jacksonville.

Rogue Valley and Providence Medford are the two local medical centers
Transportation
I 5, the major interstate running north and south through Oregon, goes through nearby Medford. Rogue Valley International Airport is within a few miles.
